With its creation, Biotope invented a profession, one that takes fauna, flora and natural habitats into account in developing human activities.
Today, we have more than 120 experts organised in specialities and in interaction with the scientific world :
- Flora, fungi, mosses ;
- Wildlife: molluscs, crustaceans, fish, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals (including bats, and aquatic and marine mammals) ;
- Natural terrestrial, aquatic and marine environments ;
- Ecosystem and landscape.

Feasibility studies, environmental authorisation application files, project oversight, project management, environmental monitoring and reviews, etc.
Our knowledge of planning departments keeps us one step ahead of all processes. In good cooperation, the project is fed by many interactions among the various stakeholders.
By involving us as far upstream as possible, your project becomes part of an iterative approach to optimal environmental and landscape integration.

The 8 August 2016 French law for the restoration of biodiversity, nature and landscapes toughens the obligation to compensate for residual impacts and establishes a new framework.
While the "Avoid, Reduce, Compensate" sequence has led to greater vigilance with regard to impacts on the environment, the implementation of compensatory measures represents a major step for project promoters.
Biotope has developed a complete and integrated ecological compensation solution.

We participate in the reflection, definition and implementation of national and international nature protection tools: National and regional parks, Natura 2000, PDB, etc.
Our management experiences on sensitive natural spaces, natural reserves and the restoration of quarries have enabled our ecologists to develop operational competence in conservation management: grazing management, differentiated management, late mowing, maintenance of pioneer milieus, maintenance of river dynamics.
The best way to protect biodiversity is still to avoid destroying it.
